Set in the stunning Northern Drakensberg, conveniently located halfway between Durban and Johannesburg, the Kudu Canter Trail Run is a two-day event held from October 19-20.

Organised by Tam and Ting, with unwavering support from their family and the community, this event delivers beautiful trail routes around the scenic Spionkop Dam, along with plenty of festivities and fun for the whole family. Walkers are also warmly welcomed to explore our picturesque paths.

…it’s ideal for fun-loving trail seekers and their families to share in their slice of paradise over the two days

The Braithwaite Farm, Linwood, is the heart of this event. Located in Bergville on Spionkop Dam, this fifth-generation family farm dates back to 1900. The farm originally stood on the actual dam site before the dam’s commissioning in 1972. Today, Spionkop Dam is a protected area rich in Anglo-Boer War history. Nestled at the foot of Spionkop Mountain — site of the infamous January 1900 battle — their farm offers a serene environment within the Spionkop Game Reserve, home to white rhinos, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests and a variety of antelope among the thorn savanna vegetation.

With breathtaking views and tranquil surroundings it’s ideal for fun-loving trail seekers and their families to share in their slice of paradise over the two days.  The race includes an optional 300-metre swim in the dam on both days, with all safety measures in place.

Race Details:

Day 1: Choose between an 18km trail or an 11km option.

Saturday Afternoon: Duiker Dash — 3km or 5km fun run for the kiddies.

Day 2: 13km trail.

The Route:
Designed by passionate trail runners, the route has been carefully planned to showcase the best views and scenic bushveld. They have worked to preserve the natural beauty of the terrain as much as possible.

This farm-friendly event caters to the whole family, with a dedicated and fully supervised kids’ zone to keep little ones entertained. After completing Day 1, if you’re not too tired, feel free to fish in our dam, ride a bike, swim, birdwatch, canoe or simply relax in the race village with some music.

For those staying overnight, free camping accommodations offer breathtaking views of the dam. Provided are hot showers, clean ablutions and flushing toilets. Tents are also available for hire if needed.

Join us for a weekend of adventure, history and family fun — Ting and Tam can’t wait to welcome you to their farm this October!
