Conquer The Holiday Hurdles

As much as you look forward to it, being on holiday poses a dilemma: should you use the extra time to relax or to run?

Holiday Hurdle #1: You can’t ditch the family to go for a run.

Get over it:

Walk together for 30 to 60 minutes a day. Along the beach, through the veld, up a mountain.

Long walks, like long runs, can help build and maintain endurance. You’ll get in quality family time while everyone gets in better shape.

Got littlies? Take some entertainment: a ball, a skipping rope, rollerblades … or stage short distance races with them.

Too little for that? It’s the perfect opportunity for some extra weight training! Push or carry them along the way.
