Strava Announce Platform Updates Based On Runner’s Feedback

Runners will now have more control over their feed.

Strava announced some new updates to their platform based on feedback from runners. Runners will now have more control over customising their feed and will be able to sync their Apple watch activities straight to the platform.

What changes are happening to the feed?

Runners will now be able to customise their feed and select which friend’s efforts they see first. Strava are rolling out the capability to favourite athletes they care about much – this will automatically make these activities appear at the top of your feed. You can also turn on notifications for your favourite athletes, meaning you’ll never miss the chance to share kudos.

Strava have also added in the feature to see uploads in their feed chronologically. According to Strava, “this change has been one of the most frequently requested ever, so we’re happy to finally respond to athletes who have been asking for it. Just head to your Settings, select Feed Ordering and use the toggle to select the Latest Activities as your preference.”

What else is new?

In an attempt to ‘cut down on the number of leaderboards that are clearly inaccurate and unfair’, Strava has improved the algorithm behind their auto-detection of segment records. From this week, when an athlete records something that doesn’t look right, they will get a notification that their effort was automatically flagged and will not appear in any leaderboards.

Runners and riders will then be given the opportunity to amend the flagged route from their phone, cropping the unintended data.
