Revised cut-off time for Isavel Roche-Kelly Medal

RW Reporter |

The Comrades Marathon have changed the time goal for the Isavel Roche-Kelly medal first introduced in 2019.

The medal was introduced in 2019 for women who finished outside the top 10 but broke 7 hours 30 minutes. This effectively meant that no woman was able to win a silver medal.

However, following a recommendation by the Comrades Marathon Association’s Heritage & Traditions Committee, the medal cut-off will be cut to 7 hours. Silver medals will then be on offer for any women finishing between 7 hours and 7 hours 30 minutes.

The Isavel Roche-Kelly Medal is the women’s equivalent of the Wally Hayward medal awarded to male athletes who finish outside the gold medals, but under 6 hours i.e. position 11 to sub 6-hours. It will be comprised of half silver and half gold.
