Race Calendar: Our Pick of Events for November
As the year winds down, November still has plenty in store for South African runners. From road races to trail adventures, there are some exciting events on the calendar to keep you moving, challenge your limits and make the most of the final weeks of the year. Whether you’re chasing a PB or simply looking for your next running fix, here are a few good ones worth lacing up for.
7 November Johannesburg | 14 November Stellenbosch: Hoka Half, 10km, 5km Fun Run
Expect live DJs, in-race entertainment and a vibrant race village packed with food, music, and good vibes. The atmosphere is electric from start to finish, making them the most anticipated running events. Jozi starts and finishes at the Randburg Sports Complex, and Stellenbosch is at the Van der Stel Sports Club. Visit the website for all the details.
13-15 November: SkyRun 100km, 65km, 38km Lady Grey, Eastern Cape
Long before trail running became trendy, the SkyRun was a thing; it’s the OG of trail running. The SkyRun celebrates 30 years this year and has grown from strength to strength. But it always keeps true to its essence: it remains self-supported (you must carry all you need) and self-navigational (the route is unmarked, and you need a GPS). The course is spectacular and wild; in 2025, the race had to be cancelled due to severe weather.
14 November: Sani Stagger, Sani Pass Premier Resort Golf Course
Whether you’re running the full marathon up and down the Sani Pass between South Africa and Lesotho, or doing the 21km ‘down’ run, once you’ve finished you’ll realise how apt the name of the race is. The marathon is a tough proposition, while the half will leave your legs wobbling and shaking. But the stunning views and unique nature of this event make it all worthwhile.

20-22 November: RMB Ultra-trail Cape Town®
A variety of trail races that traverse the beautiful mountain trails of the Cape Peninsula and on many trail runners’ bucket lists, this event offers a distance to suit every trail runner – 100 miler, 100km, 55km, 35km, 23km and 16km.
28 November: Sportsmans Warehouse Winelands Marathon, 21km, 10km, 5km. Eikestad Primary School, Stellenbosch
A challenging marathon route, with rolling hills; it includes a mix of city streets and country roads, with significant stretches on the R310 and R44 that feature undulating terrain. But with key sections routing past vineyards and wineries, the race takes in the best of this famous wine region. A great way to end your yearly marathon exploits. The shorter half marathon and 10km are also growing in popularity.
