Mandela Day Triathlon
Mandela Day Triathlon is a triathlon in KwaZulu-Natal, on 25 August 2018.
The finish line is at the Nelson Mandela Capture Site. Weather conditions at this time of year are ideal for racing in, though the water temperature in the Midmar Dam hovers around 16 degrees, so wet suits are advised.
The bike course follows a 10km loop and includes gradual climbs. The running section is fairly flat and fast, save for one hill towards the end.
There is a total prize purse of R70 000. Current Olympic Bronze Medal and Commonwealth Games Gold Medal winner Henri Schoeman has won the race twice in the past.
