The Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) has confirmed that next year’s race will be a Down Run. It will be the 95th running of the world-famous ultramarathon.

CMA Race Director, Rowyn James has confirmed that this will be the 47th Down Run in Comrades history, starting at the Pietermaritzburg City Hall and finishing some 90km later at Durban’s acclaimed Moses Mabhida Stadium.

James says, “This will be only the second time that the Comrades Marathon will finish at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium, after the soccer arena served as the official Comrades Finish Venue for the 2018 Down Run.”

James has also advised that those novice runners who had participated in and completed the 2019 Up Run will be eligible for their Comrades Back2Back Medal on completion of the 2022 race.

“We look forward to hosting our Comrades Centenary Celebrations and our 2nd Comrades Virtual Event in the coming months but we have also wanted to keep our running community, both locally and globally, informed of future developments in order for them to prepare accordingly. We will issue more details in this regard closer to the time and look forward to hosting the traditional Comrades Marathon next year.”
