PUMA Velocity Nitro 2: More Comfort, Extra Stability

Building on the success of PUMA's 2021 Nitro range, the second version of Velocity is another winner.

PUMA’s popular allrounder, the Velocity Nitro, has received a boost for the new season in the shape of the Velocity Nitro 2. The shoe – designed as a daily training shoe for distances from 5km to the half marathon – has added nitrogen-infused Nitro foam in the heel while the layer of EVA has been extended along the full length, and width, of the shoe. This leads to an even smoother, more comfortable ride while also enhancing stability.

All About NITRO

The technology is called Nitro for a reason. Through a proprietary process a special foam is infused with nitrogen gas and the result is a material that is more responsive, has better cushioning and provides a lightweight feel.

New Level Of Comfort

The step-in feel to this upgrade immediately feels more supple and flexible with a spacious unstructured toe box. A more refined, engineered mesh upper is soft to the touch, pliable and breathable, and the gusseted tongue locks the foot down with a structured design and more cushioning than the original edition. The TPU plastic heel has been removed and the new heel cup construction now provides medium thickness which accommodates the heel with a svelte feeling lockdown.

Weather Ready Grip

The outsole has more PUMAGrip rubber coverage than the 2021 version and an array of low-profile lugs under the forefoot for reliable traction and long-lasting durability. The three patterns of grip are impressive on wet roads, pavements and loose gravel should you find yourself straying away from smoother surfaces.

The 2022 PUMA Velocity Nitro 2 is an even more comfortable ride than in 2021 and suited to all neutral runners. Additionally, the women’s shoes are created with a specific last engineered for the female foot, providing a narrowed heel, lower in-step and sculpted arch shape.
