The PPC Riebeek Bergmarathon welcomes athletes and their families to take a break from the city and enjoy the quaint countryside. The Riebeek Bergmarathon, a Two Oceans Marathon qualifier, offers athletes four different race categories. Experienced runners can tackle the 42.2km marathon or the 21.1km half marathon while novice runners can join in on the spirit of the day at a more relaxed pace, with the 10km run/walk or 5km fun run/walk.

Last year, JP Duminy and the JP21 Project joined the PPC Riebeek Bergmarathon 10km runners and fun walkers, as part of the ongoing partnership with the Foundation. JP Duminy, South African international cricketer and founder of the JP21 Project, guided the kids along the picturesque route. This year, the PPC Riebeek Bergmarathon welcomes The Cape Cobras who will take part in the 10km race. They will be joined by the JP21 Project.

Ipeleng Khunou, who is the first person with a disability to complete the Two Oceans Marathon, will also be tackling the PPC Riebeek Bergmarathon this year. Khunou will be partaking in the race in his crutches.

The PPC Riebeek Bergmarathon prides itself in bringing together seasoned athletes, families, friends and communities by providing activities for all to participate in.

“We are delighted that at PPC we have been able to contribute towards bringing families together with our title sponsorship of the event. Not only that, but many participants have also been able to fulfill their dreams of becoming marathon runners in the 33 years that we have supported the event. We look forward to welcoming more participants this year when the race kicks off at our plant in August,” says Bernard Venter, General Manager at PPC Riebeek. The Riebeek Bergmarathon will again start and finish at the PPC Riebeek Factory, Riebeek West.
