Whether you’re a serious marathon runner or just in it for fun,  the aQuelle Jacaranda City Challenge – presented by Sportsvendo and Faranani Athletics Club – is Pretoria’s city marathon’. 

Run on November 9, when Pretoria’s stunning Jacaranda trees are in full bloom, the event is one of the first big races of the summer season and offers distances from marathon to 5km for everyone from Comrades Marathon hopefuls to complete race novices.

The 42.2km marathon is a popular Comrades and Two Oceans qualifier – one of the first qualifiers to be presented in Gauteng after Comrades – but there are also half marathon, 10km and 5km events on the programme.

The event has been around for over 25 years and over 8000 runners are expected in 2024. 

The 42.2km is also incorporated with the AGN Marathon Championship and will be a double-lap race that includes quick kilometres, a couple of slow poisons and a few short climbs. 

The partnership with aQuelle stretches over seven years and this year will be aQuelle’s third race as title sponsor. With their support runners can be assured of top-class race-day experience.

• Late Entries: 7 & 8 November from 11:00-18:00 at Rietondale Park, 9 November 2024 from 04:30-06:00. Late entries are subject to availability.
• Moisture management t-shirts on sale online at a cost of R150 with 3 options to choose from (limited quantities available).
