TESTED: Huawei’s Super Health Watch Offers Plenty of Value

Packed full of features, the Huawei GT 6 Pro is a quality health and sport tracker

Many online reviewers of Huawei’s new GT 6 Pro have called this the best smartwatch of 2025. And not without reason.

Huawei has delivered a high-end health watch at a price that seems out of sync with the features the new GT 6 Pro boasts.

In the highly competitive world of wearable tech, Huawei has delivered a high-end health watch at a good price that seems out of sync with the many features the new GT 6 Pro boasts. It’s a significant improvement on the GT 5 Pro, with the most newsworthy upgrade being the battery. The latest version claims a 21-day single-charge lifespan (dependent on use, of course), putting it at the top of the pile for battery life. Even if you use the GPS and all the apps fairly often, you can almost guarantee the watch will last more than 10 days without a charge.

The bright screen makes it easy to read even in the harshest sunlight

The new version is understandably bulkier with a bigger battery, but the weight penalty is more than made up for by the vast array of features the GT 6 offers.

There are 100 sport modes, for instance, including Outdoor Run, Track Run and Indoor Run, while the swim and cycling features make it perfect for multi-sport athletes. The cycling features include virtual power and use weight, elevation and speed to calculate a number. It’s not as precise as a regular power meter, but it matched up pretty well in our testing.

A workout summary is fully downloadable onto your favourite apps.

But the GT 6 Pro is way more than just about measuring your fitness activity.

The GT 6 Pro is as stylish as it is functional. The aerospace-grade titanium casing, 46mm sapphire glass screen, and solid build make it look and feel premium, whether it’s out on a run or at a dinner party. It’s not obviously a sports watch, which makes it easier to wear throughout the day.

Doing a quick ECG is as easy as putting your finger on the side of the watch for 30 seconds.

The advantage of wearing the watch continuously is that it can track everything from your mood to your general activity level and sleep. And then there are some of the nifty additional health apps on the watch that can do everything from a basic ECG to measuring arterial stiffness, arrhythmia, skin temperature, heart rate variability, and oxygen saturation.

Sleep tracking is a ‘must-have’ on modern smart watches.

All of these metrics are wrapped up in a daily activity tracker that measures calories burned, how much time you spent being active, and how much time you spent not sitting or lying down. The Health Clover app measures physical activity, sleep and mood, but can be customised to include any of your chosen metrics. On this day, the device concluded that I was feeling ‘Peaceful’!

Arterial stiffness can be measured by pressing the lower button with your finger.

There are also impressive maps available to help you avoid getting lost on a remote trail, and you can download routes directly to your watch via Komoot or by using a GPS, TXL, or KML file.

Sleep tracking is a crucial metric for health.

In Short
At R6999, the Huawei GT 6 Pro gives you a lot of bang for your buck compared to many of its competitors. Its classy feel makes it a device you can wear all day (and even at night), while its corrosion-resistant build ensures it can handle a bit of the rough stuff.
