The adidas Adizero Boston 12 Shoes are built for mid- to long-distance running, bringing a race-day feel to training with a propulsive feel that comes from glass-fibre infused Energyrods 2.0, which limits energy loss underfoot. They’re fast, but that does not come at the cost of durability. And now, as part of substantial changes, the midsole is made from two layers – ultra-light Lightstrike Pro cushioning and a new version of durable Lightstrike 2.0 EVA.

The Changes
The Lightstrike 2.0 is not the only change in the midsole. The whole design has changed too. In the forefoot, the Lightstrike Pro plunges deeper towards the road than before and is more substantial in the heel too. Overall the heel has dropped just over a millimetre for a slightly lower stack height.

Overall the shoe is now 40g lighter and the changes in the upper have a lot to do with that. By discarding the suede fabric, heel counter and overlays of version 11, version 12’s upper becomes a whole lot simpler and lighter.

Flexi Plan
The Adizero range is here to cater for elite runners which often means the shoe is stiffer than normal shoes. That was the case with the Adizero Boston 10 and 11. But with this new version the flex is a little snappier, which means more runners will enjoy this ride, not just the elites.
