NEW SHOES: ON’s Cloudflow Is Lightweight… and Fast!

BY RYAN SCOTT |

Light, fast and responsive, the Cloudflow is worth a serious look for faster training sessions. Positioned somewhere between a lightweight everyday trainer and a racing shoe, it’s relatively low-profile, light, and responsive enough for faster running; but with just enough cushioning to make it usable outside of the race environment.

…offers a good balance of cushioning and responsiveness…

The sole has a groove along the whole of its length, effectively dividing it into two sides, and this allows the shoe to flex more easily. It features 18 of On’s distinctive hollow ‘pods’ running the length of the shoe (nine on each side). It’s made of the brand’s own Helion foam and has a curved heel, which should make for a smoother footstrike for heel-striking runners. And it offers a good balance of cushioning and responsiveness, which was widely commended by testers.

On have also tweaked the mesh upper, with strategically positioned overlays and a new lacing configuration. The advantage? All of our testers, regardless of their gait pattern or foot size, were able to find a fit that felt comfortable and secure.
