Rhodes Quality Brings You 5K, 10K, 21K & Epic Trail Runs
A Festival of Road & Trail Running Events.
Rhodes Quality returns as the title sponsor of the Boland’s premier half-marathon, set for Workers’ Day on Friday 1 May 2026. Alongside the headline 21.1km race, runners can choose from a 10km and 5km – perfect for recreational athletes and families – while trail lovers can tackle two off-road challenges of 14.5km and 20.5km.
The overall bouquet of events all start and finish within proximity to the Hugenote High School in Wellington. The routes include some spectacular scenery and are ideal for runners of all levels, including walkers, as there are officially no cut-off times. All finishers in the various distances will receive a medal.
Food and beverages will be available for participants and spectators on race day, with various vendor stalls selling a range of products. The half-marathon, which has been in existence for 37 years, is also a favourite amongst elite and club runners from all over South Africa who compete for substantial prize money.
The Rhodes Quality Half Marathon, which is supported and endorsed by Boland Athletics, is also an official race on the 2026 road running calendar. This year, both the Half Marathon and 10km distances have been allocated Boland Championship Status.
Rhodes Quality, a well-known South African family brand with a juice factory in the town of Wellington, is delighted to be sponsoring the event again. Maria Soares, Head of Marketing for the Rhodes Food Group, says: “Family is at the heart of our brand, and we have been committed to manufacturing quality, wholesome products for South African families since 1896, from our canned veg and fruit products, all the way to our jams and 100% fruit juices. We are excited to be part of a heritage event that celebrates health, wellness and family in the home of our juice factory.”
All early pre-race entrants in the bouquet of events will receive a gift pack filled with an assortment of delicious Rhodes Quality products.
Other partners include the Wellington Athletics Club, the Wellington Rapportryers, Cape Winelands Municipality, Paarl Post, Sportsmans Warehouse, Balega Socks and Olympic Footwear.
The Drakenstein Municipality is a long-time supporter and partner of the event, which helps create jobs and promotes tourism by attracting runners and their families to Wellington and nearby areas.
Numerous charities have also derived a benefit from the race over the last 37 years. The nominated charity and beneficiary in 2026 will be the Huis Andrew Murray Child and Youth Care Centre – HAM. The event places a large emphasis on giving back to the broader Boland community, and Rhodes Quality will continue with this tradition.
