The Rusty Gate Challenge

A pure mountain ultra that winds through pristine fynbos in the upper parts of the Riviersonderend mountain range and faster flat tracks through the orchards on neighbouring farms.

At 50km and 2500m of elevation gain, there are some proper mountain trails that wind around waterfalls and some of the best fynbos on offer. We’ve included flatter sections to rest the legs and give the racing snakes a chance to make up ground.

The Greyton Trail Running Society is known for community-led events with big ‘gees’ in large mountains. The Rusty Gate Challenge is an ultra trail running event with loads of both. Let’s go!
