Seven World Records Broken In adidas adizero

What’s in store for 2022?

With all the major marathons still ahead this season – and so many records broken last year – it is tantalising to imagine what might happen in 2022 as athletes become even more familiar with the new wave of technically-advanced road running shoes made to break records.

The adidas adizero franchise accolades of 2021 show some remarkable results: By the end of the 2021 season 54% of adidas athletes, competing in the top 50 elite races, had gone on to win while wearing adizero and, in doing so, they broke seven world records.

The Majors

At the 2021 World Major Marathons, adidas adizero athletes crossed the finish line first on six occasions, by an average of 27 seconds, and featured on the podium another six times. Most notably, Peres Jepchirchir went on to complete a women’s first of a major marathon win and Olympics marathon gold in the same season.
