DESCRIPTION:Just 15 km north of Pretoria close to the Roodeplaat dam\, lies a lush bushveld haven waiting to be discovered by trail runners. The third trail run of the Nissan Trailseeker Trail Run Series takes place in what surely must be described as trail running heaven\, the Buffelsdrift Trail Park. The trails have been purpose built to challenge and excite every level of runner and are maintained in pristine condition. The terrain is hard and rocky amongst the grasslands and\, depending on your chosen distance\, will lead you up challenging rocky sections. Gentle bushveld single track makes for ideal game watching\, so keep an eye out for antelope or warthog when out on the trails. Starting in Potberg the runners will run through indigenous fynbos seeing Proteas and Erica’s in abundance. They will cross rivers and run atop ridgelines before running onto the rocky shores of the Indian ocean. The trail will snake along stunning paths that drift from the beach into coastal forests and along fynbos-covered hills. Runners will experience breathtaking views and possible sightings of the Southern Right whale. When they finally reach the end of the trail in De Hoop Nature Reserve\, they will be filled with a peace and a sense of accomplishment for having completed a trail made in heaven. The first 1000 entrants are free. And we will always remember that even though circumstances kept us apart\, running kept us together. \nThe Unity Ultra is a virtual event that aims to unify us in these challenging times through a common goal of walking and running towards a virtual finish line. There are three distances that can be entered (free of charge to the first 1000 entrants). Teams can be made up of two to 10 people\, and you and your teammates need to cover the distance during the specified time period. SUMMARY:Run Waterberg
DESCRIPTION:The Waterberg is one of South Africa’s best loved weekend getaways. Located just 140 kilometres form Pretoria and under 200 from central Johannesburg it is the perfect bushveld retreat from the big city lights. On the 16 th of May 2020 fitness enthusiasts will have another reason to escape the urban hustle and bustle when the inaugural Run Waterberg takes place. \nHosted at the Weesgerus Holiday Resort\, in Modimolle\, the event boasts a road run and three trail running distances. The road run is in fact a reboot of the historic Warmbad to Nylstroom race. It starts at ATKV’s Klein-Kariba Holiday Resort\, Bela-Bela\, and follows the R101 past bushveld farms and private game reserves to Weesgerus. Measuring 26 kilometres in length it is a more challenging run than a standard half-marathon\, not only because of the extended length but also because of the undulating course. \nThe trail runs meanwhile will start and finish in Modimolle’s Weesgerus Holiday Resort. There are 20- and 10-kilometre distances for the avid trail runners. Both routes will wind their way through private farms surrounding Modimolle. Trail runners can expect picturesque scenery and a tough but rewarding run. \nFor the less avid runners in the family\, including the youngest outdoors-men and -women\, Run Waterberg also features a 5-kilometre fun run. The route remains entirely within the safe confines of the Weesgerus Holiday Resort. It is ideal as a walk too\, so non-runners have no need to miss out on the action. \nThe finish venue will also boast a chill zone and live entertainment to ensure that runners make a day of their bushveld excursion. Or better yet\, make a weekend of it. DESCRIPTION:This event is organized every year as a training run in preparation of the Comrades Marathon. It is not a race but an organized training run to assist runners in their preparation for the Big One! Runners receive assistance and support from our volunteers on the day. Be cautious of road traffic as there aren’t any road closures and there’s very limited marshaling. Some munchies shall be provided to all participants at the finishing area. Vegans will be catered for! \nRunners select a group that matches their particular pace as per our publicized pacers. There is no regulations regarding club colors\, running licences etc. Runners participate at their own risk and our club or sponsors indemnify themselves from the risks associate with this training running.
