SUMMARY:Redstone Mountain Bike and Trail Running Weekend
DESCRIPTION:The annual Redstone MTB and Trail Running Weekend takes place during May in the beautiful Redstone Hills\, Kruisrivier and surrounding farms. The event already attracts over 450 entrants\, their families and spectators from the local farming community. \nThis family focused sporting event is a weekend filled with adventure\, fun and enjoyment with family and friends. It is the only Cycling South Africa endorsed event in Calitzdorp District and is an official qualifying event for the region in the 60km distance race (17km for juniors). After the event competitors and spectators relax at the race village and are entertained with live music\, a beer garden and plenty to eat and drink. The food stalls are managed by the community and many local specialities are available.

DESCRIPTION:The Kinetic Adventure 25km is an adventure race suitable for all levels of fitness. \nTeams of two will complete an unmarked course of approximately 25 km with a aid of a map\, visiting checkpoints on foot\, kayak and mountain bike. \nThis event is ideal to introduce new teams to Adventure Racing\, with fast racing between the top teams at the front. \nRACE DISTANCE \nThe race will cover approximately 25 km’s. \n\nDuration between 2 and 4 hours.\nApprox. 17 km cycling and 6 km running/trekking and 2 km kayaking.\n\nRACE DISCIPLINES \n\nMountain biking – teams should be prepared for a range of riding including single track\, steep hills\, gravel roads and sealed roads.\nTrekking – Will involve traveling by foot through rugged terrain.\nKayaking –  Kayaking will be on a dam / flat water. Kayaks and paddles will be provided by race organizers. Fluid Synergy kayaks will be used. These kayaks are very stable and suitable for novices. Teams who are unsure about their swimming ability should bring their own life jackets.\nOrienteering – basic orienteering is an extremely important part of the race. The course is not marked and teams are required to navigate using the map. If you can read a street map you will be fine.

Each checkpoint has a points value. The more you find\, the more points you get. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHOW TO WIN\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRun as fast as you can\, plan your route so you collect as many points as possible within your chosen run time. You lose points for every minute that you arrive back late. The winner is the runner with the most points! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSTAY FOR THE VIBE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEveryone will have different routes. The fun continues when your run ends whilst you compare your route to your friends over a coffee in our finish arena! \nNavigation is part of the challenge.
