SUMMARY:Tokai Manor House Run
DESCRIPTION:Run off the Christmas over-indulgence athe Tokai Manor House Run.\n\nDistances: \n16 km\n8 km fun run\n\nEntry Fees: \n16 km: Registered Runners R80\n16 km: Unregistered Runners R80 + R50 for a temporary licence\n8 km: All Runners R50\nRegistered Runners over 70 years of age may enter for free by showing their licence number and age tags at registration on the day\n\nRoute:\n\nBoth routes are a crossover of tar\, trail and single track through the Tokai Greenbelts. (Trail shoes are not required.) The routes are not suitable for prams or wheelchairs and no dogs are allowed.\n\n\nFrom its start in 1993 until 2014\, the 16 km race was held at the Chrysalis Academy and ran up the mountain through the SANParks Tokai Forest Plantation. Unfortunately a mountain fire devastated this route in 2015 and the race has since been held at the Cape Academy of Maths and Science in Firgrove Way. The route through the Tokai Greenbelts has proven to be very popular and is now the official new route. An 8 km option was added in 2016.\n\nOnline entries are available through Entrytime until 15 December: https://www.entrytime.com/running-events/\nOnline entries will incur a 10% administration fee.\n\nEnter in person or collect numbers at Sportsman’s Warehouse Rondebosch on Saturday 21 December between 10am – 4pm.\nEntries and number collection also available on the day from 5:15am – 6:15am.\n\n\nAs this event is run on the Tokai Greenbelts it has been declared a plastic free event with special permission of the WPA Road Running Commission. There is a strict no-litter policy in place and NO WATER SACHETS on the route. Please carry your own water. There will be SELF-HELP water refill stations at approximately every 4kms. \nTokai Manor House Run 2019 is in support of #Running4Pads: running and raising awareness\n\nfor underprivileged school girls in the Western Cape. Please bring packs of sanitary pads to\ndonate at the #Running4Pads gazebo on race day. DESCRIPTION:The 7th edition of Carné’s Full Moon Beach Run will take place on Thursday\, 12 December 2019 when the stars\, full moon and low tide combine perfectly once again. \nChain Gang Events in partnership with Wilderness NSRI\, the event’s official charity\, want to help you tick this one off your bucket list\, and run on what’s been described as the best stretch of beach in the country! Join us on the evening of Thursday\, 12 December 2019. \nStarting at Swartvlei Beach\, the 21km runners will pass Gericke’s Point\, the rocky landmark resembling a lion’s head. Thereafter enjoy kilometers of mixed sand and rock shelves with the warm Benguela current on your left and the fossilised sandstone dunes towering above you on your right. Passing Kleinkranz village (the 6km Runners starting point) and a mid-run refreshment stop\, runners then reach Flat Rock and a few more kilometers of sand running to the finish at Wilderness NSRI. \nThe Wilderness NSRI base will host the finish where runners will be greeted with medals\, boerewors roll and a drink (included in your entry)\, and an opportunity to share this amazing experience with fellow runners and family. \nCome and enjoy the experience and support a worthy cause. DESCRIPTION:Adventure Racing is a fun concept of combining the following sport disciplines: mountain biking\, running/trekking\, kayaking\nand navigation. In this shorter version of adventure racing\, you only need to be able to read a printed Google Map to orienteer yourself from point to point. Teams of 2 members will take on this race together.\n\nKinetic Events and Addicted2Adventure.co.za have joined hands when it comes to the organisation of the 25km Adventure Races in South Africa which has been organised by the former for many years.\n\nBeginners\, more advanced athletes and the hard core racers out there are all welcome!\n\nWho’s joining us?\n\nRace Distance\n\nThe race will cover approximately 25 km’s\nDuration between 2 and 4 hours\nApprox. 18 km cycling and 6 km running/trekking and 1km kayaking\n\nRace Disciplines\n\nMountain biking – Teams should be prepared for a range of riding including single track\, steep hills\, gravel roads and sealed roads\nTrekking – Will involve traveling by foot through rugged terrain\nKayaking – Kayaking will be on a dam / flat water. Kayaks and paddles will be provided by race organizers. Fluid Synergy kayaks will be used. These kayaks are very stable and suitable for novices. Teams who are unsure about their swimming ability should bring their own life jackets\nOrienteering – Basic orienteering is an extremely important part of the race. The course is not marked and teams are required to navigate using the map. The Simonsberg conservancy favours red cultivars and the well-known Fantail Wines of this historic Estate. DESCRIPTION:Nelson Mandela Bay\, the home of IRONMAN in Africa\, plays host to the latest event in the Standard Bank 5150 African Triathlon Series with the addition of the Standard Bank 5150 Nelson Mandela Bay and Standard Bank FUNTRI set to take place on the 24 November 2019. \nThe hugely popular standard distance triathlon series has been running in South Africa since 2011 with events in Bela Bela and Germiston. The series made its debut in Nelson Mandela Bay in 2016 at King’s Beach. \nThe standard distance race in Nelson Mandela Bay is great as an introduction for first-time athletes but challenging enough for seasoned athletes. The race is also ideal as a warm up for the Standard Bank IRONMAN 70.3 South Africa in January giving athletes the opportunity to experience the flow of big event while becoming accustomed to the non-drafting nature of the race. \nFor those looking for something shorter\, there will be the option of the Standard Bank FUNTRI. The FUNTRI will feature a 450-metre swim\, 20km bike and 5km run and both team and individual entries are available for the FUNTRI. The FUNTRI will take place at the same time\, on the same course – covering approximately half the distance – and will finish at the same finish line as the Standard Bank 5150 Nelson Mandela Bay. \nBoth races will start at King’s Beach with the transition area located in the King’s Beach parking area. Athletes will then start the cycle\, exiting the King’s Beach parking area turning left onto Marine Drive to enjoy the beautiful scenery along the coast before heading back to transition.  The run course will showcase the recently renovated King’s Beach precinct and open air amphitheatre as athletes are taken along the coastline past Nelson Mandela Bay’s premier public beaches before returning back towards the finish line at King’s Beach. \nEmail nmb@5150.com for more info.
