SUMMARY:The Spar Knysna Forest Marathon - 38th Edition
DESCRIPTION:The race offers several unique highlights found in no other race anywhere in the world. Much of the run takes place deep in the forest with a breath-taking view over the Knysna lagoon into The Heads\, for inspiration towards the finish. One race tip is to start slow. \nAlthough no one taking part has ever seen the elusive Knysna elephants\, little piles of dung sometimes seen on the route are a reminder that they do inhabit the forest\, somewhere. Keeping this pristine environment in mind and the potential impact of the race on it\, all runners share rides into the forest provided by local taxis to the race start in a clearing in the forest\, where runners arriving early are also treated to hot drinks and snacks next to warming fires. \nMore Information \n\nRefreshments\, food\, and other activities will be available on Friday 07 July\, as well as on race day\nAblution will be available at the Taxi pickup point\, the starting point in the forest and at the finish venue.\nResults will not be posted to competitors after the race. DESCRIPTION:Bastille Day Trail Run is a wilderness adventure\, for which you need to be prepared – you have been warned!\nThe Franschhoek Mountains in July can be covered in snow. The rivers are scenic yet cold. \nThis Trail Running adventure sells out every year\, numbers are limited. You are assured of a wild time\, wet feet and rewarding OBS\, served by French Maids. \nStart times: \n50km – 06:30am \n35km – 07:00am \n25km – 08:00am \n15km – 09:00am \n10km – 10:00am \nRace Venue:\nThe start finish zone is located at the ‘Old Bells Lodge’ on the edge of the Berg River dam\, (33’56’12.83’S\, 19′ 4’27.14’E). Coming from Paarl side\, head through Franschhoek on the main road (R45) until you hit the T-Junction at the Franschhoek Monument. Turn right and then right again onto the Robertsvlei road. Carry on for 5km and marshals will direct you to the parking. \nToilets and warm showers will be available.\nRegistration TBC\nCompulsory Equipment:\nCompulsory Equipment for 25km\, 35km\, 50km categories. \n1) Rain Jacket (waterproof\, not just wind breaker\, which you may have as well);\n2) Sensible Clothing for the conditions\, eg. compulsory thermal base layer;\n3) Charged cell phone in waterproof bag eg.
