DESCRIPTION:The Grootvadersbosch Trail Challenge is trail run taking place inside the Grootvadersbosch Reserve\, boasting pristine trails and exquisite views. \nThere are only 150 tickets available and entries close on 20 June 2019 or if the entry limit is reached before that date. Pre-entries only. \nBoth the 34km and 15km runs will take place on the same day. The run will also start and finish inside the Grootvadersbosch [GVB] Reserve at the GVB Cottages. 8 years ago\, this was where this run originated/started/finished – since then\, Cape Nature revamped/rebuilt the old\, dilapidated wooden huts and replaced it with Eco friendly cottages and also upgraded the road in and out to this venue which means one can now get in and out with a normal sedan vehicle – even in rainy conditions. \nDistance options: \n\n34km – 6km Indigenous forest trail followed by 28km\, pristine Mountain trails via Boosmansbos with magnificent views.\n15km – A split between indigenous forest trails and lower mountain trails with splendid views over Saagkuilskloof and some of the other valleys below Boosmansbos.\n\nENTRY FEE: \n\n34km – R980.00 per person. DESCRIPTION:The starting gun is fired at 07h30 for the 5km and 10km race. Walkers and runners are welcome for either. Those who wish to compete in the 10km walking race will start their race at 07h40. Anybody can enter and everyone is welcome! \nT-shirts will be given to the first 800 entries of the 10km race and to the first 150 entries of the 5km race. \nEnter online at www.raceinfo.co.za\, or on the day of the race from 06h00 at Entrance 4 of Northgate Shopping Centre. \nPre-entries close on Wednesday 3 July 2019; however\, you can still pre-enter\, collect your race number and t-shirt (for those who have qualified) on Saturday 6 July 2019 from 09h00 to 15h00 at Entrance 4 of the Northgate shopping centre\, or on the morning of the race. \n10KM WALKING RACE  \nThose participating in the 10km official CGA walking race must wear “W” tags on the front and rear of their race tops and must start with the walkers at 07h30. Participants are required to wear shorts such that their knees are visible. \nFEES  \nThe pre-entry fee for the 10km race (both walkers and runners) is R90. Entry fee on the day of the race is R110. Anybody can join\, however\, if you are not registered to an athletics club you will be required to pay an additional fee of R30 for a temporary licence. \nThe pre-entry fee for the 5km race is R40 per participant. Entry fee on the day of the race is R50. No licences are required for this race and everybody is welcome to take part. DESCRIPTION:An epic 161km run\, from Port Alfred to East London. \nAs the first full moon slowly approaches to be on its brightest and most magnificent in JULY \, a group of hard-core and tough ultra-runners are possibly nervously tweaking some final touches to their now nearly done training schedule for the infamous and world-renowned WASHIE 100 MILER – the greatest and most sought after 100 miler race\, not only in South-Africa\, but in the world! \nRACE PREPARATION: On the grounds of weather conditions for the Washie 100 Miler you should include protective gear for cold weather with several towels and clothing changes. A source of warm drinks is also advisable.\nREGISTRATION AND RACE BRIEFING: Registration will be at the start (Cathcart Country Club) from 13h00 on Friday 12th July onwards.\nRace briefing is compulsory for all runners AND seconds\, at 16h00 on Friday 12 July 2019.\nSECONDING: It is a condition of entry that entrants will provide their own seconds and seconding vehicles\, at least 3 are recommended. Runners\, seconds and vehicle need to be as visible as possible for the duration of the event.\nDISTANCE\, TIMES AND CUT OFFS: The course is measured and is 100 miles. The finish is at the Buffs Club and all competitors must finish by 19h00 on Saturday 13 July (26 hour limit). Athletes will be retired at the ¼ way after 6 hours and ½ way after 13 hours. Spot checks will be set at various\npoints during the race at the discretion of the committee and race referee.\nPRIZE GIVING: Will be at the Buffs Club at 10h00 on Sunday 14 July 2019. SWAPO forces were supposed to have been 150 km north of the border on 1 April 1989\, and 30 reconnaissance soldiers (Recces) who had been sent earlier to collect intelligence\, were deployed with the police. After the SWAPO incursion\, these Recces were swiftly deployed with the police units to curb the incursion. Hermann Carstens was in the leading vehicle when they drove into a well-planned\, powerful SWAPO ambush. His Casspir was immobilised\, but he heroically continued with heavy fire on the ambushers from behind his machine gun. Through his action he enabled the remainder of the vehicles to overpower a force superior in numbers. He sustained an injury to his head and was killed instantaneously. Hermann was the last South African soldier to be killed in action during the 23-year-long Namibian Border War. \nThe AfriForum Springbok Vasbyt 2019 honours Hermann Carstens and all other members of the South African Special Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. We honour their bravery and dedication.

DESCRIPTION:WHAT IS SCATTER RUN?\n\n\nScatter Run is an awesome Treasure Hunt-style event that combines racing for points and the joy of exploring areas in a new unique way. \n\n\n\nHOW TO COMPETE\n\n\nYou have to find checkpoints using the map and other information we give you. Each checkpoint has a points value. The more you find\, the more points you get. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHOW TO WIN\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRun as fast as you can\, plan your route so you collect as many points as possible within your chosen run time. You lose points for every minute that you arrive back late. The winner is the runner with the most points! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSTAY FOR THE VIBE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEveryone will have different routes. The fun continues when your run ends whilst you compare your route to your friends over a coffee in our finish arena! \nNavigation is part of the challenge. If you’ve never read a map before\, we’ll help you get going. The checkpoints will mostly be on the paths and obvious locations. The great thing is that you make it as hard as you like. Stick to an easy route on the paths\, or take the tiger lines and challenge your navigational skills! \n​Choose your running time best suited to you: 45 min\, 90 min or 150 min. You can run as far you like in that time. If you’re up for less distance\, that’s fine – get as many points as you can! \nEntries opening soon!

DESCRIPTION:With a field limited to 200 runners\, the Num-Num Trail Challenge will again be an exclusive challenge for fit trail runners who love pristine nature trails. The full course is 32km long with 1700 meters of ascent and over some of the toughest\, most variable terrain at high altitude on the African Escarpment. The 32km challenge is definitely not for sissies. \nENTRY FEE \nR990 (for both the 13km and 32km options) \nThis includes: \n\nEvent t-shirt\nMedal\nCoffee\, tea and rusks on the race morning\nLavish water tables on the the route on race day\nBraai lunch at the village from 12-4 pm and prize giving on the Saturday after the cut off\n… and much more\n\nThis truly offers one of the best value for money\, unique trail events on pristine nature trails that are regarded as some of the best in the country. \nSTART TIMES \n32km – 07:00am / 13km – 07:30am \nPRIZE-GIVING \nPrize-giving will be at 13h00 on Saturday \nEVENT FORMAT \nSolo knee-breaker\, single-stage trail run. There are steep up hills\, down hills\, technical trails\, bridges and ladders. \nTERRAIN\nExplore the hidden gems of the Highveld Escarpment. Gorges\, kloofs\, indigenous forests\, sandstone labyrinths\, open grasslands\, waterfalls\, game and birds. \nONLINE ENTRIES\nThere will be no refunds for cancellations. This is the lip of the Drakensburg Escarpment with natural wonders hidden in kloofs and gorges.\nBoth race categories go through twisty forest areas\, sandstone rock formations\, open grasslands\, steep climbs and descents and waterfalls galore. There is only 3km of jeep track running; the rest is all single track trails.
