DESCRIPTION:The Endurade J-BayX is totally unique in concept\, entailing 3 individual and unique 20Km Trail Run routes\, all starting 12-hours apart. The race promises to showcase the best of the Jeffreys Bay area and with a total distance of just over 60km\, it will surely test the ‘mettle’ &  endurance of all participants. Those who wish to compete in the 10km walking race will start their race at 07h40. Anybody can enter and everyone is welcome! \nT-shirts will be given to the first 800 entries of the 10km race and to the first 150 entries of the 5km race. \nEnter online at www.raceinfo.co.za\, or on the day of the race from 06h00 at Entrance 4 of Northgate Shopping Centre. \nPre-entries close on Wednesday 3 July 2019; however\, you can still pre-enter\, collect your race number and t-shirt (for those who have qualified) on Saturday 6 July 2019 from 09h00 to 15h00 at Entrance 4 of the Northgate shopping centre\, or on the morning of the race. \n10KM WALKING RACE  \nThose participating in the 10km official CGA walking race must wear “W” tags on the front and rear of their race tops and must start with the walkers at 07h30. Participants are required to wear shorts such that their knees are visible. \nFEES  \nThe pre-entry fee for the 10km race (both walkers and runners) is R90. Entry fee on the day of the race is R110. Anybody can join\, however\, if you are not registered to an athletics club you will be required to pay an additional fee of R30 for a temporary licence. \nThe pre-entry fee for the 5km race is R40 per participant. Entry fee on the day of the race is R50. No licences are required for this race and everybody is welcome to take part. DESCRIPTION:An epic 161km run\, from Port Alfred to East London. \nAs the first full moon slowly approaches to be on its brightest and most magnificent in JULY \, a group of hard-core and tough ultra-runners are possibly nervously tweaking some final touches to their now nearly done training schedule for the infamous and world-renowned WASHIE 100 MILER – the greatest and most sought after 100 miler race\, not only in South-Africa\, but in the world! \nRACE PREPARATION: On the grounds of weather conditions for the Washie 100 Miler you should include protective gear for cold weather with several towels and clothing changes. A source of warm drinks is also advisable.\nREGISTRATION AND RACE BRIEFING: Registration will be at the start (Cathcart Country Club) from 13h00 on Friday 12th July onwards.\nRace briefing is compulsory for all runners AND seconds\, at 16h00 on Friday 12 July 2019.\nSECONDING: It is a condition of entry that entrants will provide their own seconds and seconding vehicles\, at least 3 are recommended. Runners\, seconds and vehicle need to be as visible as possible for the duration of the event.\nDISTANCE\, TIMES AND CUT OFFS: The course is measured and is 100 miles. The finish is at the Buffs Club and all competitors must finish by 19h00 on Saturday 13 July (26 hour limit). Athletes will be retired at the ¼ way after 6 hours and ½ way after 13 hours. Spot checks will be set at various\npoints during the race at the discretion of the committee and race referee.\nPRIZE GIVING: Will be at the Buffs Club at 10h00 on Sunday 14 July 2019. At 03:30 and 03:45 all athletes with 6km or more left or 3km or more left will be diverted to the finish. \n• Ample guarded\, secure parking available.\n• Safe sports bag area available at owners’ own risk. Distance markers every kilometre.\n2. No animals except guide dogs allowed.\n3. No Vuvuzelas Or Hooters. We have wild animals in a confined space.\n4. No iPods or listening devices. Transgressors WILL be disqualified.Sachets and other rubbish may only be discarded in the road in the first 50 m after any refreshment station.\nAthletes must either leave rubbish at refreshment stations or carry the rubbish to the next station.\nThis is necessary to protect the animals on the Monument’s grounds.\nPlease Be Disciplined. \n\n\n\nSome history\nHermann Carstens\, a 20-year-old corporal of 1 Reconnaissance Regiment\, died on 4 April 1989 south of Eenhana\, northern South West Africa. SWAPO forces were supposed to have been 150 km north of the border on 1 April 1989\, and 30 reconnaissance soldiers (Recces) who had been sent earlier to collect intelligence\, were deployed with the police. After the SWAPO incursion\, these Recces were swiftly deployed with the police units to curb the incursion. Hermann Carstens was in the leading vehicle when they drove into a well-planned\, powerful SWAPO ambush. His Casspir was immobilised\, but he heroically continued with heavy fire on the ambushers from behind his machine gun. Through his action he enabled the remainder of the vehicles to overpower a force superior in numbers. He sustained an injury to his head and was killed instantaneously. Hermann was the last South African soldier to be killed in action during the 23-year-long Namibian Border War. \nThe AfriForum Springbok Vasbyt 2019 honours Hermann Carstens and all other members of the South African Special Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. We honour their bravery and dedication.
