A unique collection of world-class events that take place over 7 days and 250 kilometers in the largest and most forbidding deserts on the planet.\n\nCompetitors are challenged to go beyond the limits of their physical and mental endurance. Racing self-supported in the most inhospitable climates and formidable landscapes\, they must carry all their own equipment and food and are only provided with drinking water and a place in a tent each night to rest. \nThe Sahara Race (Namibia) 2018 starts on 29 April and takes place in the beautiful country of Namibia. The race takes place in the Namib Desert in the Skeleton Coast National Park on the coast with the Atlantic Ocean. \nCompetitors will see a great diversity of scenery and terrain as they complete the 250 kilometer / 155 mile course. SUMMARY:The Buco Kowie Striders 27km and 10km Pineapple Run
DESCRIPTION:Most of the climbing is done in the first half of the 27km\, and the second half is run on gravel roads through farms and game farms. The last 5km heads into Port Alfred. \nThe 10km is a fast course in and around Port Alfred\, with one steep hill at the half-way mark. \nLimited transport is available from the Port Alfred Country Club to the start of the 27km\, from 5:30am (cost: R25). \nGold medals are awarded to category winners in the 27km and 10km\, silver to runners under 2 hours in the 27km and bronze to the next 350 finishers. Glasses are awarded to all finishers of both races. \nThe school with the most entries of eight or more receives R500\, and the club with the most entries receives R500. \nThere is food available and a cash bar at the Port Alfred Country Club. \nPre-entries\, on entrytime.com\, close on 2 October.
