DESCRIPTION:The Drakensberg Northern Trail is a trail running event that takes place in the northern section of the spectacular Drakensberg Mountain Range in South Africa. The main event is a 40km Mountain Challenge. There are 3 shorter distances of 20km\, 10km and 6km making a great weekend of running for all levels of runners and walkers. \nThe race is at high altitude and pushes runners to find new limits within themselves whilst exploring the majestic mountain range. The decision to delay the race was taken from us during President Cyril Ramaphosa’s address last night in which he declared a national state of disaster due to the Covid-19 pandemic. One of the many measures imposed to curb the infection rate of the coronavirus is a ban on all gatherings of 100 people or more. \nAlthough this is a massive blow for all of us\, we believe that our Government has made the right decision in trying to address this global crisis. We support the measures Government has elected to impose to slow the spread of the Covid-19. \nAt this stage\, we don’t have a proposed date for the 2020 edition of Drakensberg Northern Trail and ask for your patience and understanding. We will be monitoring the situation closely and endeavour to keep you updated as soon as Government lifts the restrictions due to the national state of disaster.

SUMMARY:Falke Harvest Trail Run
DESCRIPTION:The Falke Harvest trail run at L’Avenir Wine Estate\, presented by Sportsmans Warehouse\, will be held near the R44 about 8 km from Stellenbosch on Sunday 15 March 2020. Come along and make the most out of the last few days of summer on the beautiful trails in the heart of the Cape Winelands. \nWith an option of two distances to choose from\, the whole family can join in on a lovely morning run in the Winelands. Registration starts promptly From 07h00 at L’Avenir Wine Estate. Staggered race starts will see the longest distance of 11 km start at 08h00 and the 6km at 08h15. Pre-entries can be done online at www.dirtopia.co.za until Thursday\, 12 March 2020. Prices start at R130 for the 6km and  R150 for the 11km\, while kids under 18 cost R50. Please note tickets are limited at this special venue and\, if available on event day\, will be at an additional fee. It is also important to note that late entry kids will have to pay the normal late entry fee. \nThis trail route will be a fast course between the lush vineyards with incredible views of the WIneland scenery. Runners tackling the longer 11km route will be using the neighbouring farm of Nooitgedacht terrain. You can look forward to experiencing some singletrack in the forest\, jeep track through the vineyards and winding roads between the orchards. \nTiming for all events will be done with Amarider Trail Tags and timing data will be streamed live on www.trailtag.co.za . If you have a Trail Tag from previous events\, please bring it along to registration. Tags can be rented for R20 or bought on race day for R100.  Medal to all finishers. No tag\, no time \nTake time after the event to enjoy the beauty of the L’Avenir Wine Estate on the lawns at the dam and perhaps sip on some of the Estate’s Cap Classique Rose or Brut. The refreshment station will have Powerade\, fruit & jellies and Coke at the finish as well as medals for all. DESCRIPTION:ave you ever wondered what it would be like to run wild and free through true African wilderness? \nImagine being surrounded by the animals\, sights and sounds of the African bush as you test yourself against the incredible distance & mental challenges of an ultra trail run. \nIf you are looking for a truly wild trail running adventure\, then we invite you to take on the Addo Elephant Trail Run through the vast and beautiful Addo Elephant National Park in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. \n\n\n\n\nThe Addo Elephant Trail Run was the first triple ultra distance trail running event in South Africa\, offering a choice of 100 Mile\, 76km or 44km distance ultra-trail runs. \nOriginally founded in 2005\, it is also South Africa’s oldest 100 Mile ultra trail race. \nThe 100 Mile distance was resurrected in 2016 with a new and challenging route that takes runners from one end of the park to the other and back again. \nBoth the 76km and the 44km races take place on sections of the same course\, just with slightly less elevation gain. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe courses also take runners through some of the most remote wilderness in the Addo Elephant National Park\, through areas they would not be able to access any other way.

SUMMARY:RB Africa Wild Coast Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Established in 2013\, the Wild Coast Challenge is RB Africa’s own 3-day trail-run along the rugged\, untouched Transkei coastline. Covering 110–120km the run historically started at Mazeppa Bay and finished in Nahoon\, East London\, but in 2019 the run will follow a new route from Cwebe to Chintsa. The WCC is organised and managed through a new partner company\, RB Adventures. It is also used as a platform for raising awareness and funds for charities and non-profit organisations that we are passionate about. In 2016 we supported the Sunflower Fund to broaden knowledge about blood cancer in South Africa\, and the need for stem cell donors. The 2018 run supported Breath of Life\, an NGO situated in East London which assists women with crisis pregnancies and provides a safe house where abandoned babies between the ages of 0-6 months can be taken care of. \nThroughout the duration of the run\, participants get to experience and enjoy some of the best beaches and coastal scenery the area has to offer. The run covers a diversity of testing terrains\, from low lying coastal forest and narrow paths to soft sandy beaches changing daily with the moving tides. \nThis event attracts runners of all ages\, sizes and abilities. It is much more than a typical stage race\, and RB Africa is proud to be associated with such a unique event. Not only does it boost comradery amongst our employees\, and provide a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience South Africa’s wildest coast line\, the run also represents an individual challenge to each person who takes part. \nThe inclusive and cheerful spirit of the herd ensures that every runner completes the run on a high note\, many considering it an all-time life changing experience. Every evening some entertainment is prepared\, including route fly overs\, the days’ photos\, a Q&A session\, lucky draws and fines. The feeling of accomplishment upon finishing such a unique and challenging run is impossible to quantify and the expression on the face of each and every finisher makes it completely worthwhile.

DESCRIPTION:Durbanville Hills is and has been a TrailFun favourite forever. \nEveryone who has run it before has there own reason.  Durbanville Hills is a smaller estate\, the vine blocks are smaller so we are able to break the uphills into smaller more manageable portions.  Having lots of nooks and crannies the run is more interesting as the terrain changes quickly as you pass through the estate.  This is a great entry level run if you are looking for an introduction to trail running. \nThen\, as if it is possible\, you get to the finish line and things get better !  The friendly Durbanville Hills staff are on hand with glasses of wine for you to taste as you relax under the trees for the prize giving.  Breakfast buns and amazing tasting platters are available to make this an amazing start to your Saturday. \nRoutes\, profiles\, descriptions and pictures will be posted on FaceBook during the 2 week lead-up to the event.  Your entry includes a free Wine Tasting at the finish line.  Breakfast buns\, coffee and all sorts of goodies available afterwards with our Legendary Lucky Draws and prize-giving.

DESCRIPTION:A Proudly EC Trail Run on an operational livestock farm in the Eastern Cape\, the Winston Whip is an opportunity for trail runners across the country to enjoy some of the hidden gems of the Amahlathi area in the Eastern Cape. \nSituated between Hogsback and Cathcart\, Winston Farm is the home of The Winston Whip. The Whip was started in order to promote tourism in our breathtakingly beautiful area that hardly anyone knows about and what better way to do it than a trail run. The 50km run is made up of 2 stages over 2 days. \nDay 1 is a challenging 29km run reaching a maximum altitude of  about 1700m. It starts at 1400m with 2 inclines that will get the blood flowing nice and early. Before you know it\, you are 1550m above see level and the fun begins. With Cathcart and the Windvogel Mountain behind you\, you head for the top of Winston Farm which uncovers spectacular views of The Little Elandsberg\, The Elandsberg\, The 3 Hogs and Gaikas Kop. The trail is made up of a maze of cattle and sheep paths through the veld which takes you past all the best dams\, natural springs and grazing spots you can imagine. Various water points on the route with 1 or 2 stops at the natural springs coming out of the mountain along the way. Just before you head back down the mountain to the finish for a cold beer you can have a dip in the fresh spring water reservoir to cool off. \nDay 2 is an enjoyable 21km run that starts with a gradual incline reaching 1620m above sea level within the first 6km\, this will be your max altitude for the day. This sets you up for 15kms of bliss along the Western Side of the Mountain and down onto the banks of the Kliplaat River where you will spend most of the day. When you stop running with the flow of the river\, you know The Whip is coming to a close. The route takes you for one last loop past one more view point (the Studio)\, before bringing you home past the Winston Church and back along the district road so you can stretch your legs for the photo finish. \nThe race village is setup around the Grumpy Grouse\, our Pub and Entertainment area. The Days will start and finish at the Grumpy Grouse (cash bar available) and all meals will be served here as well. What better way than running through beautiful vineyards to the Klapmutskop trail network with spectacular views of the Winelands and Table Mountain in the distance. \nThe first event in the 2020 FALKE Trail Run series\, presented by Sportsmans Warehouse. \nYes – 10 big official runs during the year where there will be categories\, series winners and loads of prizes! \nThere are four distances to choose from at Delvera\, so whether you a beginner or experienced\, there is something for all abilities. \nCOST: Pre-entries close on the 15th Jan and will be limited:\n5km – R120\, 7.5km – R130\, 12.5km – R150\, 15km – R160 \nAll PRE-ENTRANTS who are under 18 years of age will pay only R50 entry fee! Note that late entries under 18 will pay the normal late entry fee. No discount! \nLate entries taken on event day\, if available. Additional late entry fees will apply \nREGISTRATION: From 06h00 at Dirtopia Trail Centre \nSTART TIMES: 15km: 07h00\, 12.5km: 07h15\, 7.5km: 07h30 & 5km: 07h45 \nDISTANCES & ROUTE DESCRIPTIONS: \n5km – Jeep track at the bottom of the farm and it circles amongst the vineyards. Walkers welcome and easy enough for trail run novices. Bring your own water please.\n7.5km loop – This green route has jeep track and three fun singletrack sections.  One refreshment station about halfway at Pepper Tree is also the start of the downhill just below Klapmutskoppie.\n12.5km route – This blue route will give you more of a work-out and climbs on jeep track amongst the vineyards towards Klapmutskop. About 8km of some singletrack and the trail meets the last part of the green route just before the refreshment station.\n15km route – the same as the 12.5km with an extra 3km singletrack section to the top of the Koppie that is rocky and steep – for fit runners only! A self-help water can about halfway and a refreshment station about 4km from the finish. We suggest runners take their own water too. \nTiming by Amarider Trail Tag – available for rent (R20) or buy (R100). All results are submitted to Discovery for Vitality points on condition you have timing results on www.trailtag.co.za. Results are live to all pre-entrants; late entries & changes will only be live by the Monday afternoon. \nGENERAL INFO:  A medal to all finishers!  The one refreshment station on long routes (Powerade\, fruit & jellies) and drinks at the finish for all!
