DESCRIPTION:The Waterberg is one of South Africa’s best loved weekend getaways. Located just 140 kilometres form Pretoria and under 200 from central Johannesburg it is the perfect bushveld retreat from the big city lights. On the 16 th of May 2020 fitness enthusiasts will have another reason to escape the urban hustle and bustle when the inaugural Run Waterberg takes place. \nHosted at the Weesgerus Holiday Resort\, in Modimolle\, the event boasts a road run and three trail running distances. The road run is in fact a reboot of the historic Warmbad to Nylstroom race. It starts at ATKV’s Klein-Kariba Holiday Resort\, Bela-Bela\, and follows the R101 past bushveld farms and private game reserves to Weesgerus. Measuring 26 kilometres in length it is a more challenging run than a standard half-marathon\, not only because of the extended length but also because of the undulating course. \nThe trail runs meanwhile will start and finish in Modimolle’s Weesgerus Holiday Resort. There are 20- and 10-kilometre distances for the avid trail runners. Both routes will wind their way through private farms surrounding Modimolle. Trail runners can expect picturesque scenery and a tough but rewarding run. \nFor the less avid runners in the family\, including the youngest outdoors-men and -women\, Run Waterberg also features a 5-kilometre fun run. The route remains entirely within the safe confines of the Weesgerus Holiday Resort. It is ideal as a walk too\, so non-runners have no need to miss out on the action. \nThe finish venue will also boast a chill zone and live entertainment to ensure that runners make a day of their bushveld excursion. Or better yet\, make a weekend of it. DESCRIPTION:In light of the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the subsequent postponement or cancellation of sporting events and mass gatherings in the country\, the MiWay Wally Hayward Marathon organising committee\, in co-operation with the relevant authorities\, have made a decision to postpone the race. The safety of our participants\, sponsors\, suppliers\, supporters and members of the public is of utmost importance to us. \n\nThe MiWay Wally Hayward Marathon is a road-running race\, marathon\, half marathon and fun run in Gauteng\, covering 42.2km\, 21.1km\, 10km\, 4.9km and 1km\, on 1 May 2020. \nWally Hayward’s exceptional running career spanned six decades\, and although he represented South Africa at the Olympic Games and set numerous ultra-distance world records\, he is best remembered for his remarkable achievements in the Comrades Marathon\, which he won five times and completed successfully at the ages of 79 and 80. \nProbably the most remarkable achievement of the great Wally Hayward was finishing the 1988 Comrades Marathon\, just before his 80th birthday. Wally stunned the world by finishing in a time of 9:44.1\, beating more than half the field. In 1989\, just a few weeks short of his 81st birthday\, he completed his last Comrades just before the cut-off\, in 10:58.03\, in front of a rapturous crowd to become the oldest finisher in Comrades history. \nHe died on 28 April 2006\, at the age of 97\, a couple of days before the Wally Hayward Marathon that year\, held\, as always\, on the Workers’ Day public holiday\, on 1 May. \nPre-entries\, on active.com\, close on 15 April.

SUMMARY:Arthur Creswell Memorial Ultra Marathon & Half
DESCRIPTION:Race Status re Covid-19: The Arthur Cresswell board is meeting to discuss the best plan going forward. NO decisions have been made thus far about the race. We are also waiting on communication from KZNA and ASA. \nThis year will see this famous run for the 54th year. Conceived in the pub of the Old Country Club in Golf Street\, by late Dave Gardner and Dart Bousefield.  The first 2 years\, 1966 and 1967\, saw the runners coming into Ladysmith via the by-pass\, down Harrismith Road\, turning into Keate Street\, then Queen Street\, running through the old car park next to the Town Hall and finishing with a lap around the old Oval.  Mayor Rankin of Bergville started the Inaugural race at 07h00 on 8 May 1966.  Manie Khun was the first ever winner in a good time of 3:42:20 for 56 km. \nSince those early days\, both the start and the finish have been changed quite considerably.  This year’s race will start in front of Bergville Municipality in Bergville and finish at the LAC Clubhouse in Klipbank Road\, making it a distance of 52km.  Starting time is 06h00.  A 21 km run will also take place on the same day and will start at 07h00 from the LAC Clubhouse in Klipbank Road.  The race could never take place without the sponsorship\, support and help of business houses and the public of Ladysmith.  (Names of businesses who contributed will be published after the event).  We are proud of the fact that our seconding tables are known as some of the best in the country and a very big thank-you to all of those who so willingly man them.  We are looking forward to a large crowd supporting the runners at the finish. \nWe are looking forward to seeing all our supporters there !! \nClick here to download the entry form

DESCRIPTION:The ABAX Investments Milkwood Run is staged at the Soetwater Resort behind Kommetjie on the southernmost west coast of the Cape. The 21.1km scenic route winds its way along the coast from Kommetjie to Scarborough with magnificent views of the coast line. \nThere is two other route option a 10km and 5km fun run\, that runners are also able to take in the beauty of coast line. \nWe have embraced the ethos of a GREEN event\, with no littering on route and runners are rewarded with a tree sapling at the finish. \nABAX Investments Milkwood Run attracts both sponsorship and runners from all over Cape Town and even out of town runners.

DESCRIPTION:Run off the Christmas over-indulgence athe Tokai Manor House Run.\n\nDistances: \n16 km\n8 km fun run\n\nEntry Fees: \n16 km: Registered Runners R80\n16 km: Unregistered Runners R80 + R50 for a temporary licence\n8 km: All Runners R50\nRegistered Runners over 70 years of age may enter for free by showing their licence number and age tags at registration on the day\n\nRoute:\n\nBoth routes are a crossover of tar\, trail and single track through the Tokai Greenbelts. (Trail shoes are not required.) The routes are not suitable for prams or wheelchairs and no dogs are allowed.\n\n\nFrom its start in 1993 until 2014\, the 16 km race was held at the Chrysalis Academy and ran up the mountain through the SANParks Tokai Forest Plantation. Unfortunately a mountain fire devastated this route in 2015 and the race has since been held at the Cape Academy of Maths and Science in Firgrove Way. The route through the Tokai Greenbelts has proven to be very popular and is now the official new route. An 8 km option was added in 2016.\n\nOnline entries are available through Entrytime until 15 December: https://www.entrytime.com/running-events/\nOnline entries will incur a 10% administration fee.\n\nEnter in person or collect numbers at Sportsman’s Warehouse Rondebosch on Saturday 21 December between 10am – 4pm.\nEntries and number collection also available on the day from 5:15am – 6:15am.\n\n\nAs this event is run on the Tokai Greenbelts it has been declared a plastic free event with special permission of the WPA Road Running Commission. There is a strict no-litter policy in place and NO WATER SACHETS on the route. Please carry your own water. There will be SELF-HELP water refill stations at approximately every 4kms. \nTokai Manor House Run 2019 is in support of #Running4Pads: running and raising awareness\n\nfor underprivileged school girls in the Western Cape.
