Second Round Of Two Oceans Half Marathon Entries

Runners who have not completed any Two Oceans Marathon races or previous participants who missed the first entry batch will be given a chance to secure one of the 6 000 additional entries on 15 January 2013 at 10h00.

The second round of entries to South Africa’s biggest half marathon will become available at 10h00 on Tuesday, 15 January 2013, on the Two Ocean Marathon website. Rowyn James, Race Director of the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon, encourages those interested in taking part to enter early as the available spots are expected to fill up fast.

A new split entry process has been introduced for the 2013 half marathon event. 10 000 entries were released on 1 November 2012 for participants who have completed previous Two Oceans races. With a maximum field of 16 000, the remaining 6 000 entries opening on 15 January offer a final opportunity for runners to compete in the 2013 Old Mutual Two Oceans Half Marathon, taking place on Saturday, 30 March 2013.

One Response to Second Round Of Two Oceans Half Marathon Entries

I believe the 2nd round of entries for the Two Oceans Half Marathon should be limited to first-timers only ……. this way there will be a constant flow of NEW runners into the race.

I wanted to enter but was otherwise occupied and when I tried, the entry was already closed.

Given that popularity of the race the above criteria should be considered or a specific quota should be allocated to first time runners or spread the 2nd round of entries over 4 days i.e. 1500 per day thereby giving those not able to access the site at time of opening a broader opportunity to enter. Entries not taken up by first entrants could after the 4 days be allocated to all-comers.
