Sometimes small things make a difference, and below is a video clip that gives you two exercises, which you can do for 30 seconds each before you run, to help ‘switch on’ muscle activity. The coach in the video clip is South Africa’s Bobby McGee, a friend of mine who now lives in Boulder, Colorado, where he consults to a number of runners and triathletes. Bobby is one of the world’s more innovative coaches, and he does a great deal of work on running technique and drills to help people of all level become better runners, technically and physiologically!
This clip on muscle activation is one of those drills. I’d advise that you do these every time you run, and the beauty is that they’ll take you only one minute before you head out the door. You should notice the difference immediately!
