2014 Two Oceans Marathon Entries

Two Oceans logoTwo Oceans Marathon Association has tweaked the entry structure for the 2014 OMTOM Half Marathon.

16 000 Entries will be made available for the half marathon, with entries opening on 5 November in phases.

In an effort to give runners a fair chance to enter, and alleviate the online entry system, new runners will enter an entry draw in January 2014.

The first 10 000 entries will have three opening dates with 1 500 entries reserved for charities and Internationals:

  • 5 November: Blue Number Club runners (individuals who have run 10 or more Two Oceans) can enter (limited to 1 000 entries).
  • 11 November: Licensed club members (even if they haven’t run the event before) can enter (limited to 5 500 entries).
  • 14 November: Runners who have previously completed the Two Oceans Ultra Marathon, Half Marathon or Trail Runs can enter (limited to 2 000 entries).
  • 22 January: The remaining 6000 entries are reserved for runners who have no previously run any Two Oceans events, or runners who missed out on the previous entry days. These runners can submit an application into an entry draw.
A random electronic draw on 23 January will select 6 000 entrants, who may proceed to pay for their entry.

      Hi Zolani
If you want to run the ultra marathon, you’ll need to be registered with a club.
You don’t need to be a member of a club to run the half marathon.

Does one have to belong to a club to do the half marathon?

      Hi Kurt,
No, you don’t need to be a club member to run the half marathon.

If I want to run the Ultra Marathon, can I sign up with my local running club even if I live outside SA?

That’s all very well but what if you are wanting to run your first race with someone and one of you gets chosen and not the other? I’ve run three myself but my first ever half was a Two Oceans 21km done with my Dad and I would never have made it if not for his support. Support is so important for first-timers and I am sure many people would be disappointed or not want to run if they can’t do it with someone else.

Headline got me a bit worried there. Till I saw it’s only relevant to half marathoners. Phew!
I have not even ran a qualifying race yet. Oops! But we ultra runners don’t have to battle it out for spots, so no rush or stress.

RW, do you guys know how many novice runners enter the HM on average? MY brother and I want to enter, but it’s gonna be a huge disappointment if one of us gets an entry and the other doesn’t thanks to the lucky draw…

Hi Bertus. About 50% of the runners in 2013 were novices.

Hi, I’ve gone thru the registration process, yet it doesn’t give me the option to pay? It still says incomplete. Any advice?
