Back in the game
by Baglett
Baglett's runner's knee-enforced break from running is over. But easing back into it is not part of her vocabulary.
The Runs We Do For Other People
by Baglett
I woke up this morning to another beautiful sunny morning. Putting on my running kit, I bounced out the door, chose ‘Running Baglett’ on my iPod and a lovely soothing voice told me that my workout had begun.
I Hate Gym
by Baglett
Unless Hurricane Hilda and all that she brings with her is running riot through Jo’burg, I will hit the road.
The Unfinished Comrades
by Baglett
I only knew one person running the Comrades in May and I was his biggest supporter. The morning of the Comrades, I put on my running gear, stood in front of the TV and when the gun went off, gave a big ‘Go you guys!’ and then fell back onto the couch with my breakfast and blanky.
Conversations With Oneself When Running
by Baglett
Baglett talks to everyone and everything while she runs. First up was Cold, then Rain, then the fat man until a hot man came along. Eventually she was down to herself. What's on her mind?
Are You Prepared For Winter?
by Baglett
"An ankle brace, knee brace, thick Nike tracksuit with two running tops underneath my tracksuit top, finished off with a Nike beanie was the outfit of choice. Layers are the new bikini."
Two Oceans Casualties
by Baglett
Next year I’m making a t-shirt that says ‘My knee fell out. If you can find it, I’ll walk faster.’
Baglett's "Dear Body" Letter
by Baglett
"You decided the patella was the part of my knee you were going to punish. I’ll patella you something! Pull that trick again and I’m sending you to a place where they wear green masks and use sharp objects."
Partners and Running Don't Go
by Baglett
I promised I would run with the same determination as Paula Radcliffe. I would run with the energy of a kid in a playground and with the same enthusiasm of a first time marathon runner.
Hills and Traffic In Jo'burg
by Baglett
I was wearing my running top that, ironically, has the word “RUN” emblazoned in bold, black letters across the chest. It’s my ‘Not feeling the running love t- shirt’, because God forbid I should be walking alongside a stream of cars while everyone in their cars are thinking “Chick, your top says ‘RUN’, not walk holding your chest so your lungs don’t fall out”.
