Shoe Review: adidas Kanadia TR4

Print page

The Kanadia is the perfect shoe to try out trail running. It’s not as pricy as many of the other trail shoes and acts as the perfect entry-level purchase.

Now onto its fourth generation, we were so impressed with the first version that we recommended you buy two pairs. Although the shoe has developed since then, it still remains a great-value shoe.

The Traxion soles will be the first thing to grab your attention. The brightly coloured lugs are more prominent than most shoes’ and provide a dynamic grip over all surfaces. Surprisingly these lugs are not very noticeable on the flatter terrains – a good thing. This is mostly due to the adiPRENE cushioning, which is just enough to give the shoe a great balance in hardiness and cushioning to get you going as a trail beginner.

The rest of the ventilation and support on the upper is pretty basic, which keeps the costs down, and the popularity of the shoe has lead to some fantastic colour options.

Final Take

You’re not likely to see Paula Radcliffe in a pair of Kanadia TR4s, but you can certainly use a pair to take to the trails.
