Review: Ladies K-Way Domoter Shorts

Print page

Not all runners have skinny waist lines. Some of us are blessed with womanly curves. More often than not, this presents a slight problem in the running gear department.

Most running tights out there are fitted with skinny, tight, high-sitting waist bands. Not only is this cut unflattering to the more voluptuous of us (leading to the inevitable, unsightly overflow of love handles), but they often ride up to sit around the belly button region: not a place that any pair of pants can comfortably sit.

I was excited when I got my mits on a pair of K-Way’s Dometer shorts. They are everything a female runner is looking for in a pair of running tights.

The waist band sits comfortably where the name says it should: on the waist. The width of the waist band is also remarkably flattering: at around 4cm, it tucks in all those buldgey bits at the right places.

The waist band stays put no matter what exercise regime you’re embarking on: technical trails, fast flats and even a cross-training weights session in the gym.

Another nifty little feature of the waist band is the inclusion of a back pocket, accessible via a zip. Because of the positioning and thickness of the fabric, a set of car keys sits quietly unnoticed.

The fabric on the legs is light, breathable and flexible, provide a snug – but not tight – fit on the mid thigh. Interestingly, the legs ride up ever so slightly on flat pieces of terrain, but stay put on the more technical sections.

The Final Verdict: If you’re looking for a comfortable & flattering pair of running tights, you can’t go wrong with the K-Way Domoter shorts. Tip: double check your size, ladies! Because they’ve nailed the waist band issue, you’ll find you may just fit into a smaller size than normal…
