| I bought myself a Forerunner 205 from USA. (It is finally cheap enough for me to afford). Unfortunately Garmap is too expensive. Are there any cheap South African maps available that are compatible with Sport Tracks? |

What do you need maps for?
Garmin Training Center software lets you see your run on Google Earth.
SportTracks software (free) seamlessly lets you see both a street map view and a satellite view.
No Garmaps needed (I've never used them). |

We usually do between 20 and 40km a morning when we do distances and are always trying out different routes. (Yes, our Walkers do train hard)
I can plot my route on Google, but I need street names to trace my route. How can I do that with SportTrack? "...SportTracks software (free) seamlessly lets you see both a street map view and a satellite view." I am using SportTrack, but cannot see any maps.
(I only have the watch for a week and am still playing with it.) |

I don't plan my routes, just review runs already done. After uploading your runs, all you do is click on the window with the map and choose (street/satellite).
I wouldn't know how to plan a run - there are several sites available that let you do that (a few threads here discussing that - I think one site is called mudmaps), and for that you don't need any Garmin or GPS watch. |

No, I do not want to plan my route. I just want to save a route that I already did so that I can do it again at a later stage.
I did load my run (walk) onto SportTrack, but it only gave me the plotted route I did on a blank page, no map. But I will try tonight by clicking on the map area. |

Forgot to mention the obvious - you need to be connected to the internet to see the maps. Suppose that is one drawback. But you can save the maps (screenprint/save image etc.) with route plotted on them if you review them often and don't want to connect each time.. |

| Thanks again. It works. No need for Garmap. (Now I can really start playing). |
