Come on everyone! I don't want to have just my own company on the 42! Crying or Very sad

I decided to do this very slowly (sub 5) to qualify for Two Oceans.

I only recently found out how few qualifying races remain for Oceans.

Since my training programme is geared at a fast Comrades qualifier at the Akasia marathon, and Akasia is not regarded as a TO qualifier, I had to make another plan.

I hope that the PnP is not gonna jeopardize my Akasia goal. Rolling Eyes

Can anybody tell me what to expect on the route? Is it tough? Last year I heard it is tough. Shocked

Did the 21 last year. Don't remember any hills & the 42 is a double lapper.

For me (and I've always raced it), it's always been a tough run although the route is not particularly hard route. Crowded and usually hot. Gentle hills start getting to you in the second lap. I rate it 3.5/5 difficulty.
In comparison, I rate Johnson Crane as a 1/5 in difficulty.

Me – 42km.

A relatively flat route with a few gentle hills. The only incline/hill that feels like a monster … the final +-600m at the end. Running up that hill when u are tired ... not so "lekker".

So in theory there shouldn't be any risks in doing a slow 42 with the purpose of doing a faster Comrades qualifier the 6th of March at Akasia?

I never ran the Akasia marathon and this year it's a "NO" (weekend after Deloittes marathon)... u can run a fast PnP. Run the 1st lap slower than the second. Before the final 600m hill ... it's a long decline/downhill.

Unfortunately I am not on that level yet to achieve my goal next week.
The training programme that I've been following aims at Akasia in March, that gives me 3 weeks of quality training.

And fortunately I won't be doing Deloitte.....that is a killer! Twisted Evil Embarassed

Will not be at Pick 'n Pay this year.

Going on a Quad Bike game drive and Valentine's picnic with the wife instead. Just to prove that I don't have to run every race on the calendar! Cool

And can you in all honesty confirm that at no stage during your romantic interlude you will even think about the race??

He'll make sure his quad gets stuck in the mud so he can run back to the start Laughing

Don't you guys have jobs? Two reactions to my post within about 60 seconds of posting it.

I will be doing a 10km training run in the early morning, so the running will get done! And I've never had a romantic interlude on a moving Quad Bike before. That'll be a first. Razz
