Mr. Price runner Ludwick Mamabolo has become the first South African to win the Comrades Marathon since 2005.
Running relatively conservatively in the first half of the 89km race, he took the lead with 18-odd kilometres to go, finishing in a time of 5:31:02.
Fellow South African Bongmusa Mthembu took second place in a time of 5:32:40.
Defending champion Stephen Muzhingi finished in 6th position, his hopes of winning both the Two Oceans UItra Marathon and Comrades marathon in the same year, dashed. Three time winner Leonid Shvetsov claimed a top 10 position, pipping Muzhingi by an impressive 02 minutes and 50 seconds.
5 of the top 10 runners are South African, with only one runner under the age of 30.
Russian twin Elena Nurgalieva won her 7th Comrades Marathon in a time of 6:07:12
