Sandes To Take On Sky Run

Ryan Sandes to take on the Salomon Skyrun 2012 South Africa’s international trail running sensation Ryan Sandes will be on home soil in November to take on the Skyrun for the first time and has set his sights on a new course record. 2012 has seen Ryan continue to solidify his place in trail running history with an emphatic year of victories on the home and international circuit.

He added wins to his belt in Australia and Hong Kong and a 2nd place last month with the 2nd fastest time in history at the iconic and oldest ultra-trail; the Western States 100miler, his second race at this distance. Ryan, a Cape Tonian, and proud South African ambassador on the international trail running stage is ‘super excited’ to be taking on the Salomon Skyrun in 2012, what he considers the ‘most hardcore one day trail race in South Africa.”

“I have wanted to run it for a few years now but it has never fitted into my schedule. 110km in distance, no route marking, limited aid stations and support, high altitude and the terrain it is run on is pretty gnarly with some big climbs. It’s going to be a major challenge for me having never run the route before but I think that is what appeals to me about the race – it’s about the journey in order to get to the finish line.”

A few entries are left – are you brave enough to join Ryan and take on South Africa’s ultimate trail race?
