The Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival has launched a user-friendly app which will give festival goers instant and frequently updated digital access to festival information.
The app, which was launched on July 2, is the first festival app in South Africa and is set to replace the traditional festival booklet. The app can be downloaded on BlackBerry, Android phones, iPhones and iPad. The app forms part of Pick n Pay’s Goodness Campaign and is a move towards the goal of a paper-free and economically sustainable festival.

Directions – by clicking on any location festival goers will be able to find their way around Knysna with ease.
Events – with a click of the button visitors will be able to find out more information, times and the venues of all festival events.
Festival schedule - for a full listing of every event, activity, parade or sporting activity, festival goers will be able to click through the festival schedule.
News updates- for all the latest Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival news, race winners – the festival app is the fastest stay in touch with current festival news.
Social media integration - the festival app will enable people to tweet, upload photos and post to their FaceBook wall to keep their communities informed.

10 000 copies of a Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival schedule of events will still be printed for those without access to smart phones. The festival plans to phase out the festival information booklet over the next few years.
