5 Things To Do Now That Comrades Is Over

Print page

6 months of training is over… now what?! Here’s what we think that you should spend the next few weeks doing:

1) Sleep in! That’s right: snuggle with your loved ones, kids, pooch or duvet. There’s no need to get up at the crack of dawn to get that mileage under your belt. Wake up after the sun has risen and the rest of the world is waking up, too.

2) Spend time with friends and family. No more blowing them off to go training. Organise a braai, movie night or romantic dinner. Ensure that your loved ones know how much you appreciate their patience and support while you were out slogging on the tar.

3) Indulge! Grab an extra beer, wine or chocolate – whatever tickles your fancy! Celebrate your victory and reward yourself for your momentous achievement.

4) Go for a walk. That’s right, there’s no need to run everywhere anymore. Take some friends and go for a leisurely walk. Admire the view, smell the flowers and have good conversation. Enjoy the relaxation!

5) Lose your conscience! Put your feet up and be lazy: guilt-free! You’ve earned it!

What are you going to do now that The Big C is over? Let us know by commenting below.

Get all my friends and family to start walking with me! Now that training for Comrades is over, I can walk the 5 km fun walks with all the newbies and not feel like I should be running. Who knows? Maybe they will be running the Comrades within the next few years! And I will do the supporting!
