SA’s strong contingent of top runners will be looking to hold their heads high among their international peers, when the Bestmed Tuks Race takes place on Saturday, 18th February at the University of Pretoria’s Sports Grounds.
Besides the race field, which will see the likes of Stephen Mokoka, Sibusiso Nzima, Rene Kalmer, Irvette van Blerk as well as Frik Guys striving for fast times, some of SA’s road running legends will also be in action. The Pretoria and Johannesburg Wheelchair Clubs will take to the road in the 10km race.
A great number of social runners, including families, schools such as Anton Van Wouw, Constantia Park, Pretoria-East as well as Sun Sparrows pre-primary school, will be participating in the 1km and 5km fun run races.
The planned festivities of the day include exhibitions, food, music and prizes. A variety of refreshments will be available from Chip ‘n Dip, Mini Donuts, Pancakes and various speciality coffees.
The organizers of the Bestmed Tuks Race have made great strides in providing a kiddies area filled with lots fun in a safe and secure environment. The section includes Clowns, Magicians, Face Painters, a Jumping Castle, Playstation and DVD Stations as well as a Puppet Show House.
During the race on Saturday, various intersections will be partially closed and managed by Metro Police between 05h00 and 10h00 while the runners are passing through, as listed below:
