Announcing winners of the J.P Morgan Corporate Challenge

A total of 12,839 runners and walkers from 278 companies prevented their 2012 health resolutions from cooling down and teamed up for fitness with fellow colleagues as they took to the tree-lined streets of Ilovo during the annual J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge® earlier this evening.

The first male across The J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge 2012 ® finish line was Flash Masire (16:53), and the First female home was Violet Raseboya (20:33).
“Tonight was not necessarily about winning but improving my time in preparation for the African Championships in Berlin in July 2012” said Raseboya.
Currently in its 9th year in Johannesburg, the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge® is regarded as one of the most anticipated events on the corporate social calendar. The 5.6 kilometre road race promotes company camaraderie, fitness and corporate networking while also making a donation to a worthy charitable cause.
Each year the JPMorgan Chase Foundation donates funds in celebration of the Corporate Challenge to a non-profit organisation. This year the appointed beneficiary was MAD (Make A Difference Foundation).

MAD is a non-profit South African-based registered charitable organisation whose main focus is to identify academically talented youngsters from less fortunate circumstances and provide them with exceptional educational opportunities that will enable them to realise their full personal potential. Linda Geldenhuys of MAD attended the event to accept the donation and say a few words of thanks to the participants and J.P. Morgan for the opportunity.
Senior Country Officer for J.P. Morgan Sub Saharan Africa, Mr. John Coulter commented:

“All the participants in the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge are the real winners. Their perseverance, inner strength, camaraderie and teamwork are a true inspiration to their colleagues, peers and the corporate community. We hope the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge builds friendships and that our support for MAD nutures future corporate champions”.

The awards ceremony welcomed sponsors 36ONE Asset Management, SAPPI, Planet Fitness and local media partners Jacaranda FM and Business Report up on stage to present the winners with their prizes.

Later, guests were entertained by the smooth sounds of internationally renowned R&B singer, songwriter and record producer Loyiso Bala. The after-party ended on a high note with Johannesburg’s favourite, DJ Paul.

The J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge® in Johannesburg is the first race of the 2012 JPMorgan Chase & Co. Corporate Challenge Series. The next event will be held on 19 April in Singapore.

The JPMorgan Chase & Co. Corporate Challenge Series celebrates its 36th year in 2012.
