Description

Both the 21.1km and the 10km races follow the same, undulating route for the first 6km. While the 10km is a quick course with only two small hills, the 21.1km continues undulating, until the 9km mark. Here, runners will encounter a 1km climb, before an undulating route to the finish. This is a challenging, but rewarding course where good times are achievable.

Unique Fact: This is a scenic race, through leafy Constantia.

Medals will be awarded to all finishers.

Entries are taken on the morning of the race, from 4:45am.

I really enjoyed this route finishing in 2:57:33 and achieving my goal of beathing the clock. My Garmin footpod measured the route at 22.4km however and not 21.1km and I don’t normally find it to be that much out on a distance. So perhaps I actually ran a PB :)
The route was senisble for this time of year as there was plenty of shade to be had. As a back of pack runner I’m usually affected when they run out of water and I was pleased to see plenty of water en route which was much appreciated.
The prize giving went on and on and on. Why can’t they do the shorter distance prizes earlier? The race finished at 9am and I only left after 11am by then it’s boiling hot.
I also appreciated that someone was selling burgers and cold drinks at the race as one often finishes a race and there is NO refreshment available (Bay to Bay and Winelands) and when one has finished a hot race that has run out of water at stations one at least wants to rehydrate at the finish.

Beautiful route through Constantia. Horrifying organisation – huge mess with registration, the route running through the starting line, thus creating a near stampede at the 10 km start, and chaos at the watering points with single water packets being offered at a time – I had to stop at every watering point to be able to get someone to hand me water. Wonderful race that was marred by bad organisation.

A great race with great views and just the right amount of shade for this time of year. A lovely route with just the right amount of hills.

The only problem experienced was the registration. Very congested and slow to get into the hall and out. Water sachets were not cold enough.

Personally had a good run with good time so can’t complain. My Garmin also measured the race to be slightly longest Han 21.1km … Thought my Garmin out but reading the other review I will check it before reprogramming it.

Great run all round I think. i agree with previous comments that the route was sensible, with plenty of shade. It was more undulating that I thought, but that’s my problem not the organisers!

I found the registration process to be fine, but i did get there quite early. It certainly wasn’t bad. What I did find disappointing was that the start line wasnt clearly marked out. I, along with a number of other runners had to ask around to find out where to go to. I large overhead banner would be nice.

The other thing I found both annoying and potentially unsafe was the fact that the 21km doubled back past the start line with the 10km runners having to make way. this is just a stampede waiting to happen as someone mentioned earlier. I quite liked the applause and encouragement offered by the 10km runners, but they need to be cordoned off in a much safer manner.

The water wasn’t also very cold, but given the weather we’re having at the moment, I’m willing to over look that.

All in all, a good run, fairly well organised. I did a PB of 1:55 over the 21km so I’m chuffed. See you next year.

Did the 10km race. Start was a train smash with 21km runners coming through on the same road the 10km started on.
Had to do a small loop in a street of which some runners cheated by turning around too early.
But overall it was a nice race with a nice route.
Big up for the directions to the race and pointsmen along the route.

What a great race ! Very busy registration but I was quickly out. Could not believe that on the 10km people were cheating when the race did that U – turn – most bizarre indeed.

Glad the start was early as it got hot very quickly.

Overall a good race and fairly well organized. I arrives early so I didn’t have a problem with any congestion at registration. One problem I had was the water was warm. All races I’ve run this year the water has been ice cold. Please rectify for next year. I enjoyed the race – thanks
