A well organised race. My only gripe was having to wait 6 mins after the starter gun before we could get going making timing inaccurate.

I went down for ALL the events. I didn’t do the big five, but did the 50km mtb, the 50km road race, the 15km trail run, the full xterra and topped it off with my first marathon. It was an amazing week, tiring, but absolutely spectacular. I have never run further than 15km and entered the full marathon by accident. It was fun all the way and at no point during the race did I wish it was over. The scenery was unbelievable. The half might have been a different experience because of the amount of participants I suppose.

I will be back next year!

This was my first Knysna and will certainly not be my last. The marathoners did not experience the long wait as did the half runners which was a bonus for us! The run must also be able to boast itself as the most beautiful marathon in the world as it takes one through scenery that is surely as good as it gets. The ambience, the route, the novelty of the start and the general organisation gave me a most memorable experience. Well done to all those who were responsible for this event. See you n 2012!

took part in the full marathon. was amazing. scenery and vib was an experience not to mention the taxi drive into the forest. (at one point i was not sure we were ever going to make it to the start but going up the hills in 1st gear was….. interesting!)
it was jolly tough but had trained hard and had decided just to enjoy the experience. took photos along the way and generally enjoyed the time in the forests.
water tables were well stocked until last 2 which had run out of coke when we needed it most.
also the last few kays were conjested because of last of half marathones still coming in because of the late start. (maybe in future the 2 groups can come in from different sides to avoid this?! just a thought)
one to put on your bucket list as a runner, had heard horror stories about how tough it was but if you train properly it will become one of your most rewarding runs!
thank you to all the people who manned the tables and cleaned up after we had left!
P.S. does anyone know how the runner is that collapsed in Somila Estate?

Hi, yes besides the long wait, it was a awesome experience, and even though with all the winter colds and not as much training as i should have it was a great run, next year again but with more training.

Thanks to all the workers, marshalls etc was great.

Was my 7th half marathon and I’m very disappointed, it was always the highlight of my running year but things went seriously wrong this year. If you want to increase the entries be prepared that it will take longer to drive everyone to the start. Don’t wait until it is too late to inform those that were on time and ready to start not to discard their warm clothes as you will have to hang around for another hour, surely it was clear that we will not start on time long before the last 10minutes. Man the water tables with enough helpers, might also been a problem around the late start and bigger field. Then if you are going to announce that iPods are not allowed, enforce it.

This has always been a great race, but there is cost involved to do it and after this years experience make me wonder if still worth it

What an awesome race, this was my first Knysna forest marathon, the scenery, the vibe, but boy those downhills are not your friend.Like my dad said If I carry on like this, when I am fifty it would be 20 Knysna marathons, something to hope for.

fantastic marathon. this was my 5th for the year and all perfect. just a pity the two races join up with 12km to go. after running 30km on your own and then suddenly to find yourself amongst thousands of 21km runners is a bit off putting and the spectators as a whole dont know who is running which event. also difficult to find the 42km runners you spent chasing for the last 30 km. but then again you seem to get inspired and end up racing the 21s to the finish. wont miss another one.
