Description
A flat and fast route, with hardly any uphill section. This race is a Comrades qualifier.
Gold medals will be awarded to category winners, silver to finishers of the marathon under 3 hours and the half marathon under 90 minutes, and bronze to all other finishers. A total of R29 500 of prize money will be available.
Pre-entries are available, but you can also enter on race day, from 4:30am.
Unique Fact: Expect a country run out in the veld, while friendly cattle, goats and donkeys greet runners along the route.
The goats and cattle are mostly all you see. Don’t expect km markers for the first 32km. Halfway is marked and the last 10km is counted down. This is not a race I would suggest you do as your first marathon. I would also suggest you don’t do it alone unless you are happy with your own company. Even though there may not be a hill that you can see there is a steady climb for 30km. You may not see it but it is there. A well organised run with great water points with enough encouragement. Your mental character is tested in this run.
I would do the run again and make a full weekend out of it.
