Description
During October the popular South Coast marathon (42,2 km & 21,1 km) is presented and has kindly been sponsored by Goss and Balfe (Pty) Ltd. It has been regarded as an exciting experience amongst participants that includes a free train ride from Amanzimtoti station, stopping halfway at Ifracombe just before Umkomaas where the starting point is for the 21,1 km and then continuing to Scottburgh where the starting point is for the 42.2 km marathon. The race is run alongside the beautiful Indian Ocean and is finishing at Hutchison Park in Amanzimtoti.
the race was superb, despite a niggling blister i discovered halfway (23rd km) i managed to finish within the qualifying time.

The water in the first half tasted foul. The locals told me that its normal for this race. The distance markers were not accurate. We had some 8 minute k’s and some 4 minute k’s. Doesn’t help a novice trying to complete their first marathon.
I enjoyed the run. Fortunately the weather was cool otherwise I think this would be a bit of a struggle.
