Description
The 8th running of the Gerald Fox Memorial Half Marathon will start at the Johannesburg Zoo and will run through the leafy suburbs of Saxonwold and Forest Town, finishing back at the zoo (to which all participants will gain free access for the day). The race will incorporate a Company Challenge where teams of 10 runners will run 10km and can win R20 000 for the Johannesburg Zoo. There will also be a 5km Fun Run within the grounds of the zoo.
Pre-entries are available, but you can also enter on race day.

Nice route, but horrible registration at the morning…… pre-entry participants got stuck in long queues… Organizer should plan the distribution of registration better…
1. The pre entry cost more to enter than entering on the day.
2. Pre entry queues were longer that the on the day entries.
3. The water tables were not prepared for such large crowds, you had to wait in a queue to get drinks at the tables.
4. There was no water sachets at the end of the race.
5. No medals were given
3rd and last year I am doing this, same problems every year at registration and I am there by 6am and pre entered.
Same gripes as the above 2 . Sad as its a lovely route, but poorly organised at registration, only seem to cater for 10k runners. State that medals will be given to all finishers but instead we got key rings
Lovely & scenic race & great finishing venue, unfortunately organisation could be a lot better, chaos at registration tables, no water or drinks at the end, excuse all the cups were on the route, not good enough, it is essential that we replenish our fluids at the end. Small issues to work on .
One of my favourite race routes. Unfortunately registration still a debacle, particulraly pre-entries. Come on guys!
My pre-entry was lost, so no cap, as advertised, nor t-shirt (paid for). No drinks at the end. Nice route though, will enter again for this reason and because it’s close to home. I won’t pay for a t-shirt again though!
