Description
Tens of thousands enter this event. This year it will be limited to 50 000 people only. The amount of people and logistics involved is incredible. The organisers should be well pleased as the number keeps increasing year on year. The event raises money for The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation charity which aims to bring about social change through sport. There are various distances to choose, ranging from 5 kilometres to 30 kilometres. Team entries are also available.
A perky pack of 2 000 dogs in all shapes and sizes (including the beautiful Hush Puppies’ beagles), will join their families, and local celebrities, for a tail-wagging day of walking and socializing.
Pedigree® is the Official Dog Walk Sponsor of the Discovery 702 Walk the Talk and will ensure that all four-legged walkers get the Very Important Pet treatment befitting mans’ best friend.
“Pedigree believes in making the world a better place for all dogs by providing accessible professional nutrition,” says Tebogo Motsepe, Brand Manager for Pedigree®.
What Can Pooches Expect?
- Pedigree® will be setting up 5 Doggie Water Points along the 5km route.
- An interactive Pedigree® Park at the main finish area.
- A vet for any medical needs.
- Furry finishers will be spoilt with doggie goodie bags.
- On registration (20 July), participants will receive a Pedigree® bandana and vouchers in their race pack which entitles them to 2 packs of Pedigree® Dentastix® and 6 Pedigree® Wet Pouches at the finish.

Did the 15km in 1:55. Walking is not the same as running! But at least being one of the first 100 walkers ensured that I was not caught up in the crowd of 8,000 behind me!
Awesome event, I can’t imagine the organisation required. But sooooo many people. The first 3km of the 8km race took over an hour, because of the congestion, the next 5km only 50 minutes.
