I have stayed in Joburg my whole life and didn’t know about places like this! The race was my first trail run (it is not a road race, my body can testify to this). The race started on time, the entrance fee was well-priced, waterpoints were good, and direction arrows were clear and understandable. Facilities were good at the start and all finishers were awarded medals. All in all a very good morning out although a road race description is a bit misleading. Well done Alberton

A well-organised event which just happened to be two kays from home! Entrance was painless and the R40 fee seems to be the going rate for 15km races these days. This was billed as a “Country Run” and I was expecting to run around the veld a bit with a few tough hilly bits. It turned out to be my first ever trail run as we climbed up and down the koppies in the area with the last third of the race under the tree canopy alongside the river. It was tough and I finished in 1:45 (as opposed to my usual 1:30 for 15km road races). The route was very challenging but well marshalled and we were never in any doubt as to where to go. The water stations were at regular three kay intervals although I never saw a single distance marker. The runners threw their sachets and cups indiscriminately around the course which is inexcusable but there weren’t enough bins for the purpose (and none at the 12km watering point). Overall it was a great event and as a regular road runner I exercised some muscles that I never knew existed. Well done Alberton AC.

I’ve done this event three times now (although there were sections that did me) – and I will be back again next year. Fantastic organisation, well laid out, good marshalling, convenient parking, easy access, excellent ablution facilities, and what a difference when compared to the normal plodding along a tar road. Well done, Alberton.

Amazing race, beautiful scenery, and a challenge indeed! Finish time was 1:40… Do any of you guys know where I can get my results, and any idea where the pictures taken on the day are going to uploaded?
