I recently started running with the adidas miCoach, which includes an ear-piece so that Laura (the lovely lady who hides inside the miCoach device) can chat to me and constantly remind me to “speed up”.
But herein lies the problem. I don’t really mind Laura chattng gaily to me (read: reprimand) about my complete inability to run fast, but the damn ear-piece is constantly falling out of my ear. Not only is this exceedingly frustrating, it also means I don’t hear her half the time. I have even tried running with a headband to try and keep it firmly in place, but that hasn’t proven to be very successful, and my husband says I look like a dork, especially when I have been running with a headband in 30 degree heat.
Sigh. As if I don’t have enough to worry about when running. Like yesterday’s run, which was supposed to be 50 minutes. I managed all of 20. My head, heart and, most importantly, legs just weren’t in it. So when Laura fell out of my ear for the 10th time, I decided to abandon and turned around and headed dolefully back to my car. But that’s a blog for another time…
Regarding my ear-piece dilemma, the way I see it, I have three options;
1) get an “ear job” to make for a comfy and firm fit,
2) abandon Laura all together and any hopes of ever running with an ipod, or
3) come up with a clever way of getting the ear-piece to stay in!
Any suggestions?
