Soweto Marathon: On or Off?

9:35: Spotted the thread on the website about when the Soweto Marathon will be held this year.

9:40: Phoned ASA head office on (011) 880-5800.

ASA person who answered: Hello

Me: Hi, I would like to find out when the Soweto Marathon will be held this year. Can you help me?

ASA person: The usual date is the first weekend of the month in November. That would mean that it would be November 7.

Me: You say, the usual date. Does this mean that the date for this year¹s race is not confirmed.

ASA person: No, it is not yet confirmed but the usual date is then.

Me: Ok, so for example, if I was travelling up from Cape Town and wanted to book my flights now, how certain are you that the race will happen?

ASA person: They will make an announcement about the confirmed date towards the end of August because there is a problem with the printing. (?)

Me: I am phoning from Runner’s World magazine so we obviously getting a lot of queries about when the race will be held. Is there a media liaison person I can talk to?

ASA person: No.

Me: Ah, Ok. Thanks
