Four flights later and over 24hours of traveling I am finally on plane headed for Cape Town. Looking back it was a highly successful mission but more importantly it is a journey and experience that I will never forget. From cancelled flights, demolition derby taxi rides, stomach bugs (mud bum), new friendships and some insane running in one of the most magical places in the world – it was an epic trip.
Winning the race was a bonus and a great way to cap off an awesome yea I was lucky some of the bigger name multi-day runners were not there which made my task of winning a bit easier but big respect to the other competitors as it was no walk in the park. As I said at the awards ceremony, the other competitors got better value for money than me by being out on the trails for longer…
Thanks to my support team, dream givers and everyone who has supported and encouraged me this year – I could not have done it without you!!
So now it’s feet up for December and then back at it in Jan 2012 … or just about that!
I have been invited by Red Bull Aus to take part in the Mark Webber Challenge www.markwebbertasmaniachallenge.com in Tasmania starting on the 7th – 11th Dec. I will be teaming up with the legendary Aussie V8 driver Rick Kelly.
